Ever have a day that felt like a dream? A mirage in the desert, something too beautiful to be real? This was one of those times.
I was lucky enough to meet Josh and his gorgeous friend, Berlynn one evening at an after-event at WPPI (a wedding and portrait photography convention I was attending in Vegas.) Josh is a photographer and graphic designer with Bare All Goodness Photography from Los Angeles. We talked shop and hit it off, and Josh kindly and very randomly invited me to join him and Berlynn for an impromptu shoot they were doing in the desert with some friends outside Boulder City the next day.
My darling friend, Frannie from Ampersand Studios, joined me (she was kind enough to act as my chauffeur, as well!) We followed the pin on the map Josh texted me. As soon as we arrived, we knew we were in for an adventure.
We drove out onto the cracked, dry, lake bed to find reggae/house music blasting from Josh’s truck, a blue plastic kiddie pool, homemade mojitos and a bucket of pacificos on ice, a vintage, baby blue VW bug, and a yellow banana seat bicycle. Not to mention some of the most beautiful, creative and fun people I’ve ever met. Now if that isn’t a recipe for a good time, I don’t know what is.
It was an afternoon we will always remember. Thank you to our new friends. It truly was an unforgettable experience.

Josh’s tattoo: the golden mean
The tattoo on Berlynn’s arm was done in her grandmother’s handwriting.
Completely unexpected moment when Damien and his Ultralight aircraft landed. Frannie, Alyssa, and I all got rides in this awesome machine. What a thrill!
Frannie…ready for takeoff and looking just a little unsure….
